All our babies are delivered at Seton Medical Center Austin. Seton has recently expanded its services with a 124,000-square foot, five story tower addition. This addition includes a new maternity area and 43,000 square feet of renovation of the existing maternity unit. There are thirty new and ten renovated post-partum rooms. Seton also has a new Transitional Care Nursery, as well as two new Full-Term Nurseries. Seton has a level III-B NICU nursery that is able to provide comprehensive care for infants born at 28 weeks or less. The NICU is supported by the wide-range of services and specialists of Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, which offers a full continuum of specialty services for newborns requiring more critical and complex care. Seton also has pediatric surgical sub-specialists and pediatric anesthesiologists available to perform major surgery. Joint Commission named the Seton Family of Hospitals as a 2007 recipient of the 11th-annual Ernest Amory Codman Award in the multiple organization category, recognizing Seton for its success in reducing preventable birth injuries. The initiative resulted in a 93 percent reduction in birth trauma rates from 0.3 percent for 2001-2003 to 0.02 percent in 2006. You are required to pre-register with the Seton Admissions office prior to your delivery. We will provide a pre-admission form in the middle of your pregnancy. When your completed form is received by Seton Medical Center, they will contact your insurance company regarding hospital coverage. The hospital will bill you separately for the room and any other charges associated with the delivery. Any questions regarding your hospital bills should be directed to Seton Medical Center. More information about Seton can be found on their website at: www.seton.net.www.seton.net.
