Dr. Karen Swenson has provided gynecological and obstetrical
care in private practice since 1985. Her philosopy of care emphasizes open communication and working with patients to acheive wellness, including attention to how thoughts and feelings affect health. She was
selected as one of Austin's favorite OB/GYN doctors in 1993 and 1995 Parents' Choice Awards.In the medical community, she is respected for her work to improve the quality of medical care. At Seton Hospital, she
has served as Chair of the Medical Quality Improvement Committee, as well as on the Seton Physicians Hospital Network (SPHN) Board and the SPHN Physician Council. She is also known for her expertise on the
physical causes of sexual dysfunction in women, through her affiliation with the Austin Center for Sexual Medicine. Dr. Swenson earned a BS in Nutrition Science with highest honors from the University of California,
Davis in 1976. She received her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, graduating in 1981. In 1985 she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of
California, Irvine Medical Center, where she was appointed Administrative Cheif Resident. She was board certified by the ABOG in 1987, and recertified in 1997. She is a fellow of the American College of
OB/GYN. |
